Maybelline Vivid Lipstick Review

This weekend I wanted to go to Ulta but unfortunately I got lost (yes with a navigation) SMH.  Anywhoo, I did manage to make it to Target instead.  I've been hearing a lot about the new Mabelline Vivid Lipstick collection so I went on the hunt to look for it.  Of course there was only one color left (Electric Orange) so I picked it up and decided to do a review.

Description: "Now bright goes gorgeous, never garnish. Brighter color from our exclusive vivid pigments. Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar."

In real life the color is gorgeous.  But for some reason that pop of color didn't translate to my lips very well.  I was expecting it to appear bolder and brighter, but the color seemed to be a little dull on my lips. It did take some layering and reapplying to get some good pigmentation.  The swatch on the lips doesn't match the tube color.  Despite the color payoff, this lipstick is extremely moisturizing and feels silky smooth on the lips.  While applying it, the creamy/velvety texture immediately made me want to rub my lips together as if I was applying a chap stick or balm.

Now on to the packaging...because what's a review if I didn't critique this as well?  I'm really a fan of the case the tube comes in.  It's neon and see through with a silver base.  However, THEY AREN'T SEALED and you can open these up in the store...ultimate FAIL!  Open yours, make sure it's untouched....maybe even dip it in alcohol if you're a germaphobe like I am!

From Left to Right: Pink Pop, Fuchsia Flash, Shocking Coral, Vivid Rose, Electric Orange, Vibrant Mandarin, On Fire Red, and Brazen Berry

Overall, not bad for a drug store brand.  It's affordable (priced from $5.49 to $7.49) and offers an array of bright shades.  You can find the entire collection at your local CVS, Walgreens, Target, or Rite Aid.  Since the collection has been out for over a month some of the colors are hard to find.  If you were lucky enough to snatch these up let me know your thoughts.
