Andalou Naturals Body Butter Review and GIVEAWAY! - CLOSED!

A couple of weeks ago the folks over at Andalou Naturals sent me this amazing body butter to review.  If you aren't familiar with the company here's a few tidbits.  Andalou means "Path of Light."  This reflects their goal to foster good things and enrich lives through skin, hair, and body care products.  The company uses Advanced Fruit Stem Cell Science blended with natural and fair-trade ingredients to make a product that is good for people and the environment.  Did you know?  For every sale and newsletter subscription, the company donates $1 to one of their four charitable organizations.  Greatness!  Don't you love a company that gives back?  You know what else I love?  The body butter they sent me.  Read on to find out why, you'll probably love this stuff too!

Andalou Naturals has some unique hair and body care products that smell really nice and refreshing.  The body butter scents include:
  • Lavendar Shea
  • Kukui Cocoa
  • Passion Fruit
Speaking of scents...

Immediately when I opened the jar the scent reminded me of a split open mango with an unripened banana stuck in it.  That's really the only way I can describe it LOL.  Fresh and light are the two main words that come to mind.  The passion fruit scent is simple.  I definitely know it's there, but it doesn't overwhelm me.  I only wish it had more of a fruity smell to it.  However, the scent did last a long time.

Not only does the scent last, but a little of this body butter goes a long way.  I like it for daily use on the hands and feet or anything else that feels rough and dry.  It has a whipped texture and you don’t need a large amount because it spreads out evenly and disappears into the skin very quickly.  It nourishes and moisturizes your skin, softening and suppling things up. Unlike other products that have Shea Butter in it, this one doesn't leave your hands sticky and oily.  I don't know about you but I hate when I use a body butter and a yucky fingerprint is left behind.  Especially on my keyboard at work...drives me NUTS!

An 8 oz. jar of this will last a long time.  Its available on their site for $13.95 or you have the chance to win it here on Makeup Not Down! *does the running man*  One fortunate Makeup Not Down reader will win a body butter of choice from Andalou Naturals. YAY!

WOC Look of the Day: Warm & Smokey Eyes

Hello dollfaces!  Thank Goodness Its Friday!  The past two weeks have been very busy for me.  It's been a while since I've done a look so I had to post it to the blog.  I wanted to use earth tone shadows and do a nude lip.  In my mind I was thinking "keep the look warm but still smokey." Its a subtle look that can easily be deepened with a darker shadow for more drama.  I think I'll call it "Sweet Sable."  As always, if there is a look you would like to see me recreate please email me at I hope you enjoy.  YAY!

Espresso eye shadow - To fill in the eyebrows
Studio Finish Concealer NC45– On the entire lid from upper lash line to brow bone as a base.
Carbon eye shadow - In the crease
Amber Lights eye shadow - Pat on the entire lid and lower lash line
Blacktrack Fluidline Eye liner gel - To line upper lash line.
Smolder eye pencil – To line the waterline.

Duo Lash Adhesive- Apply a thin strip to the lash line.
False lashes (#4) - Apply as close to the natural upper lash line as possible.
MAC Opulash Mascara - Apply before putting on false lashes.

Matchmaster foundatin 7.0 - Apply with a 187 brush and start from the center of your face and blend out.
Select Cover Up Concelear NC45 - Right underneath the eye to cover up dark circle.  Make sure to blend with a soft fluffy brush.
Mineralize Skinfinish Powder (over top of the foundation) - Use the same 187 brush and apply all over your face.
Mineralize Skinfinish Powder (Sun Power) - Temples and face contour
Blot Powder Pressed - Dust it over the oily spots with a large powder brush and you are good to go.  I reapply this as much as needed throughout the day.
MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush (Peachtwist) - Smile and apply to the apples of the cheeks

From Left to Right: Amber Lights, Espresso, Carbon, Select Cover Up Concelear NC45, Blacktrack Fluidline Eye liner gel , and MAC false lashes #4

By the way, who says you can't create a nude lip with a brown lip liner?!?!  Hodgepodge lip liner is a great neutal brown that pairs well with any color gloss or lipstick.  I really loved Blankety, the MAC lipstick I used with the liner as well.  My lips are so dark and I've had the hardest time finding the perfect color that would conceal the darkness and lighten them.  What are your thoughts?  Will you try to recreate the entire look?

Inspirational Thursday

Relatable Style - Inspirational Thursday
Just created my first Polyvore set. Last night I caught up on old episodes of Kim and Kourtney take New York. So of course some of the outfits she was wearing inspired this set. I think we all can agree that she has a relatable style.
