Chasing the "Gray" Days Away

I think we've all had a few "gray" days...gloomy days, lows, not so high, or whatever you like to call them.  I'm not going into detail why the past month has been gray for me.  But, I do know those type of days make me appreciate the sunny ones even more.
Despite the few gray days I've had, for some reason I feel its' always a time I can break out my makeup brushes.  This post is a really simple look I got from Makeup by Candie.  Check out her website to see the full video tutorial.  My eyes didn't turn out exactly like hers but I'm happy with the look.  I also used a few different items and omitted the NYX Jumbo pencil that she used.  All in all, this is a really simple look for beginners to try.  Pictures and products below!

Eyes:
Espresso eye shadow - To fill in the eyebrows
Painterly Paint Pot – On the entire lid from upper lash line to brow bone as a base.
Style Predator eye shadow - In the crease
Notoriety eye shadow - In the crease blending into the inner tear duct.  Apply on top of style predator.
Furiously Fabulous eye shadow - Pat on the entire lid blending into the crease.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Medium Dark) - Dust lightly over the brow bone as a highlight.
Blacktrack Fluidline Eye liner gel - To line upper lash line.
Smolder eye pencil – To line the waterline.

Lashes:
Duo Lash Adhesive- Apply a thin strip to the lash line.
False lashes (#7) - Apply as close to the natural upper lash line as possible.
MAC Opulash Mascara - Apply before putting on false lashes.  It helps blend your natural lash into the false lashes.

Matchmaster foundatin 7.0 - Apply with a 187 brush and start from the center of your face and blend out.
Select Cover Up Concelear NC45 - Right underneath the eye to cover up dark circle.  Make sure to blend with a soft fluffy brush.
Mineralize Skinfinish Powder (over top of the foundation) - Use the same 187 brush and apply all over your face.
Blot Powder Pressed - Dust it over the oily spots with a large powder brush and you are good to go.  I reapply this as much as needed throughout the day.
MAC Frost Blush Margin - Smile and apply to the apples of the cheeks

Pictured: MAC Frost Blush - Margin, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium Dark, MAC Opulash Mascara, Blacktrack Fluidline, Select Cover Up Concealer - NC45, MAC Eye Pencil - Smolder, Fabulous Felines Quad (2010) - Leopard Luxe, MAC Eye Shadow - Espresso, and MAC Paint Pot - Painterly

From Left to Right: Wild by Nature, Style Predator, Notoriety, Furiously Fabulous

Notice I didn't use anything on the lip.  I was rushing and needed to get to work.  As always if you decide to try this look, send me pics.  I want to see!

Autumn Inspired Smokey Eye

This look is by request of Krystin Giles she wanted to see an Autumn Inspired Smokey Eye.  If you have a request that you would like to see posted to the blog, feel free to email me (cj@makeupnotdown.com). I made sure to not get too crazy with the colors and kept the technique simple.  For the this particular look I swept color onto to my crease first.  Then I patted a gold color eyeshadow onto my entire lid.  Last, I worked a black sparkly eyeshadow on the corner of the lid in an outer "V" formation.  But think more of a sideways "V" LOL!  Anyways see the entire look and products I used below.

Eyes:
Espresso eye shadow - To fill in the eyebrows
Painterly Paint Pot – On the lid as a base.
Woodwinked eye shadow - Inner corner and center of the lid.
Saddle eye shadow - In the crease.
Black Tied eye shadow - Outer lid.

Lips:
Beet Lip Pencil - Line the lips and fill in for more color.
Cremesheen Glass Over Indulgence - Apply to the center of each lip and rub lips together.
Face:

Matchmaster foundatin 7.0 - Apply with a 187 brush and start from the center of your face and blend out.
Mineralize Skinfinish Powder (over top of the foundation) - Use the same 187 brush and apply all over your face.
Blot Powder Pressed - Dust it over the oily spots with a large powder brush and you are good to go.  I reapply this as much as needed throughout the day.

MAC Velvet 6 Smoked Eyes Holiday 2006 Palette : Black Tied (bottom right in the palette)
*Black Tied still available

Left to right : Espresso, Woodwinked, Saddle, Painterly Paintpot

I wasn't too fond of the colors I used on my cheeks and lips.  But you can use another color if desired.  Remember you can always wash it off!  :)  Will you try my Autumn Inspired Smokey Eye?
